Jesmond Dene

Friday 8 April, 7 – 10 pm
Bat Monitoring Workshop, Ouseburn Community Centre.
The aim of the workshop is to introduce the National Bat Monitoring Programme (NBMP) and to find out how you could take part in monitoring our UK bat populations. It will enable participants to go out into their local garden or area at sunset or sunrise, with or without a bat detector, and identify potential bat roosts, important features for bats and to look for bats. Bring warm clothing and footwear. Booking essential, call 281 2082 for booking form.

Pond Dipping, Jesmond Dene – Nature Area Pond.
Across the river from Pets’ Corner. Children must be accompanied by an adult and come prepared for wet conditions underfoot. This is a drop in event. Contact the Rangers on 281 2082 for information and access details.

Tuesday 19 April, 1 – 2pm and 2 – 3pm
Easter Trails, Ouseburn Parks’ Visitor Centre – Jesmond Dene.
Join the Northumberland Wildlife Trust (NWT)’s People and Wildlife team and follow the Easter themed trails to see if you can win a prize! Drop in for 1 of 2 sessions. Let’s Go Batty! Ouseburn Parks’ Visitor Centre – Jesmond Dene.

May Ramble
Ouseburn Parks’ Visitor Centre – Jesmond Dene. As part of “Be Nice to Nettles” week come along on this guided walk not only to learn about nettles and their many uses, but to learn about other plants and trees also. Raft Race, Ouseburn Parks Visitor Centre – Jesmond Dene.

Wednesday 10 August, 11am – 3pm (Walks at 11am – 12 noon and 2pm – 3pm)
Birds for Beginners, Ouseburn Parks’ Visitor Centre – Jesmond Dene.
Come and join the RSPB on a walk around Ouseburn Parks to discover bird life in the trees, on the ground and around the river. Help us to record what we find and join in a bird craft activity. Please bring binoculars if you have them but there will be some available if not. This event is suitable for all ages, but access is via steps and steep slopes, unsuitable for buggies or wheelchairs.
