The workmen are still around but the wire barriers came down today, allowing dog walkers and cyclists snowy access to Coleman’s Field. An official opening for the new visitors’ centre, and the new bridge over the Ouseburn, will take place in January.

There won’t be any animals at Pets’ Corner for a wee while yet but their homes are taking shape. The refurbished Millfield House is also still closed but the exterior wall has now had the much-loved plaques put back in place.
