PLANNING A DAY OUT?
THE WATERFALL
One of the Dene’s most famous spots has to be the Waterfall. Approach the waterfall from the bridge near the northern playing field for an unmissable view and photo opportunity. A fine example of Lord Armstrong’s work with, at its base, a deep pool. To the right as you cross the bridge are the ruins of a fourteenth century water mill, one of several mills using the Ouseburn power for grinding corn from surrounding farms. It was also used at one time as a flint mill.
BIRDWATCHING
The Dene is home to a fantastic collection of birds throughout every season. We offer guided walks or if you fancy having a go on your own, or click below to download one of our bird spotting sheets. For more information on guided walks, head to our calendar.
NATURE TRAILS AND WALKS
The Dene has plenty of walks and natures trials to offer. We have two suggested route maps of the Dene or sign up for one of our guided walks. Check out the events page for specific dates.
